Communication with Compassion

  • Do you sometimes wonder how a conversation could have gone so wrong?
  • Would you like to experience more connection with the important people in your life?
  • Learn a language with which you can turn difficult situations to everyone’s benefit?

Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg (also known as Compassionate Communication or Connecting Communication) offers a simple communication model that has helped me greatly with these questions. After all that I had read about it, it was mostly the hands-on practicing and working with the material that made the theory come alive for me. This is why I am happy and enthusiastic to now be able to offer my own basic course. This introduction training will help you gain awareness of what works in our communication and what doesn’t. And serves as a first step to raise the quality of your life and relationships.

In 4 sessions you will learn:

  • How easily ‘violence’ slips into our daily conversations
  • The effects of compassion on our communication
  • How difficult it can be to express what we observe without evaluating
  • How clarity can be gained by focussing on what others and yourself are feeling and needing
  • To make clear requests that promote understanding and cooperation

This course requires a minimum of 6 participants and is organised a few times during the year. You can show your interest by checking the calendar and letting me know which course you would like to join.

Unconditional Parenting

  • Are you still reeling from that scène in the supermarket?
  • How is it possible you find yourself screaming yet again?
  • You want to give positive attention, but worried that will make your child a sticker junkie?

Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg offers a simple communication model that has helped me greatly to put practical action to the parenting of my values. Therefore I am thrilled that I am now able to offer a course especially for parents and caretakers.  This course is about awareness and practical skills that will give you more space to choose how to deal with challenging parenting situations.

After four sessions you will know how to:

  • Apply the communication model in difficult situations with children
  • Put the needs of your child first without losing sight of your personal boundaries
  • Ask for what you need without using force, fear, shame, guilt, punishment, manipulation etc.
  • Deal with temperament and challenging emotions with respect for the other person

The course requires a minimum of 6 participants and is organised a few times during the year. You can show your interest by checking the calendar and letting me know which course you would like to join.

Empathy and Self-compassion

  • Do you want to be more self confident, be in your power more?
  • Would you like to deal with that doubt if you are good enough once and for all?
  • Want to learn how to love yourself unconditionally?
  • Do you want to stay your authentic self while in contact with other people?

Now that you have more awareness of what works and what doesn’t in your communication, you may be frustrated that you still don’t always have the mental space to connect with others. You’ve noticed that you actually often need empathy yourself and would like to be more connected with yourself. So that you can stay in touch with your personal boundaries and express yourself with respect. You may feel a desire to learn to take care of yourself better so that you can be there for others more. This is the second step towards emotional freedom.

In this course you will learn how to:

  • Be more compassionate towards yourself
  • Keep your inner peace when emotions run high
  • Hoe je kunt omgaan met triggers
  • Clearly feel how much space you have for the other person and state your boundaries without violence
  • Take responsibility for your own feelings and need
  • Make vulnerable requests that lead to more connection

This course requires a minimum of 6 participants and is organised a few times during the year. You can show your interest by checking the calendar and letting me know which course you would like to join.

Compassion in Conflicts

  • Are you often frustrated or stressed when you communicate with the people nearest to you?
  • Would you like to gain more ease in how you deal with conflicts?
  • Experience more cooperation and willingness when you ask for what you need?

In a conflict we are often inclined to focus on what we don’t what. Our thinking revolves around what the other is doing wrong and we lose our connection with what we really want and need. This puts us at risk of compromising or ending up in a win/lose situation. In my experience, with Nonviolent Communication it is possible to reach solutions that benefit all parties. This is the third step toward emotional freedom, when you are able to stay loving and emphatic with the other person while staying connected to your own feelings and needs.

After this course you will know how to:

  • Use the communication model during conflicts with your family members, friends, co-workers etc.
  • Take the perspective of others as well as yourself and connect to everyone’s deeper values and desires
  • Enter into authentic dialogue (fluently switch from expression and emphatic listening) while staying connected to yourself
  • Move from seemingly opposing interests to solutions that benefit everybody

The course requires a minimum of 6 participants and is organised a few times during the year. You can show your interest by checking the calendar and letting me know which course you would like to join.
